The Bramall, the University of Birmingham’s Music Building and premier concert hall required a bespoke brand identity which would enable them to build their reputation, whilst also work within the guidelines of the prestigious University of Birmingham brand. I created a contemporary and inviting brand identity which was inspired by the arching rays of stage lighting and features a warm orange reminiscent of the colour of the brick of the iconic building. A corresponding palette was developed which would enable each area of the events programme to have its own colour.
As the main channel for the venue, the Bramall were looking for a new website which would create a digital home for the premier performance space. The site needed to effectively communicate their status as a leading regional cultural venue and sell their programme to a wide range of visitors.
I designed a modern and welcoming site, which is heavily image driven, to showcase the diverse events programme. A bright multi-tonal colour palette helps to segment the types of events and performances within an intuitive monthly calendar. A masonry news section allows the team to regularly update the site with fresh content on events for the coming month, and a ‘Plan your visit’ tabbed section presents the vital information a visitor may need to make their visit welcoming and hassle free.
Integration with the venue’s ticket management system was included to make booking tickets online possible for visitors. Features such as a categorised mailing list sign up and a recommended list of events based on the visitor’s search criteria help the venue to tailor its marketing communications and enhance the user experience on the site.
